Ministry Skill Development (MSD)

MSD 501 | WRITING BIBLICAL CURRICULUM (3 credits)

Learn how to plan biblical, relevant, creative teaching material based on specific goals (i.e., know, feel, do) for a specific target audience. You will develop teaching curriculum of varying lengths and subjects that will be used to teach people of all ages – from Discipleship Group discussions to sermon series to Momentum Meetings to weeknight Bible classes.


MSD 502 | CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MINISTRY (3 credits)

Everyone follows similar patterns of development that can help us target instruction and care to their needs. When basic knowledge of developmental psychology is partnered with the biblical wisdom and hope that everyone needs, children begin to thrive. This course will cover the basics of a typical child’s growth so that you can shape your ministry to reach any age level safely and effectively. You will also learn how to meet the needs of children and adolescents with specific disorders and disabilities so they can experience the love and acceptance Jesus offers.


MSD 510 | MUSIC THEORY AND WORSHIP PERFORMANCE (3 credits)

Learn the basics of music theory and worship performance, including song-writing, team building, and production. During this course, you will develop songs to be used in Kids Ministry as well as in weekend service worship for adults.


MSD 511 | WORSHIP BAND AND TEAM BUILDING (3 credits)

There is more that meets the eye when it comes to leading a band. Learn the ins and outs of assembling a team of musicians to create a worship experience that engages peoples’ minds and hearts with the gospel.


MSD 520 | CREATIVE WORSHIP TECHNIQUES (3 credits)

Our Creator has given us many tools to engage people's’ hearts. In this course, you will learn the basics of graphic design, video production, stage design/lighting, sound, and music so that you have the tools you need to produce a quality worship service utilizing a variety of mediums.


MSD 530 | PASTORAL MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT (3 credits)

What does it take to launch a ministry? Once you have it off the ground, how do you cause it to thrive? In today’s society, pastoring a ministry requires a delicate balance of administrative and people skills - not to mention the balance between ministry and home. Most importantly, a pastor needs a constant connection with Jesus. This course will help you prioritize that most important relationship while equipping you to launch, manage, and grow a ministry team under the umbrella of a local church, all while shepherding the people God has entrusted to you - your church, your team, your target, your family, and yourself.
